Student Health Insurance Policy

MSU students in healthcare programs are automatically enrolled in the University’s student health insurance plan (SHIP). Those wishing to utilize alternate coverage should seek a waiver from HR. There are also multiple optional additional benefits and coverages available. If you have questions about the student insurance plans, please contact MSU Human Resources at 800-353-4434 or email SolutionsCenter@hr.msu.edu. https://hr.msu.edu/benefits/students/index.html

MSUCOM PA Medicine Program requires that all students have health insurance coverage for the duration of the Program, starting from the first day of attendance through the final day of the program.  The payment of medical fees incurred due to any injury or illness arising out of participation in the program are the responsibility of the student.

Failure to maintain health insurance at any time during the program will result in the student being unable to attend and progress through the Program. Documentation of current health insurance is maintained on the web-based application, Exxat. It is the responsibility of the student to ensure that the health coverage is maintained and documented.

Disability Insurance

MSUCOM provides a disability insurance policy to enrolled students, with coverage that will pay a monthly benefit in the event a student becomes disabled due to sickness or injury. Students have the option to purchase continued coverage upon graduation. The plan is currently issued through Guardian Life Insurance Company of America. More information is available through the plan administrator, InsMed Insurance Agency, Inc. at (800) 214-7039, via email or online.

Dental and Vision Insurance

Dental insurance through Delta Dental of Michigan and vision insurance through VSP are available to MSUCOM students as optional coverage. Details and online enrollment are available through the MSU Human Resources website through MSU Human Resources Benefits Office. Questions regarding these plans may be directed to MSU Human Resources at (517) 353-4434 or via email.
