Professor Trudeau wins Educator of the Year

Back

Congratulations to Heather Trudeau, MPAS, PA-C, DFAAPA for receiving the 2026 Michigan Academy of Physician Associates (MAPA) Educator of the Year Award. At the MAPA Conference held in Traverse City, Michigan in October 2026, Heather Trudeau, who serves as the Pre-Clinical Coordinator and Assistant Professor at the Michigan State University Department of PA Medicine, received this award to recognize her excellence in teaching physician assistant (PA) students and honor her dedication to the profession. Professor Trudeau has practiced as PA for the past 20 years.

In response to her achievement, she said, “One of the most rewarding aspects of being an educator is watching the transformation that occurs as students’ progress through the classroom phase and clinical rotations, and then on to clinical practice. To see them become competent, compassionate, and confident providers that are positively impacting the health of the communities they serve is incredibly fulfilling.

I am fortunate to work alongside an amazing team of dedicated PA educators at Michigan State University. This recognition reflects not only my passion for teaching but also the collaborative effort that goes into preparing the next generation of PAs. I feel humbled and grateful to receive this award and excited to continue contributing to the future of our profession.”

We thank Professor Trudeau for her numerous contributions to PA Education and continued dedication to the success of students and are thrilled at the recognition she received for her passion for teaching, mentorship, and the PA profession.
