The Girl Scouts Take on The PA Profession

Back

The Laingsburg Daisy and Brownie Girl Scout Troops were introduced to the PA profession earlier this month. Assistant Professor Beth Richey, MMS PA-C from the MSU PA Medicine department organized an event with students from the Class of 2027.

The STEM event brought the PA profession to life through interactive, kid-friendly learning stations. With stations like the Stuffed Toy Clinic, scouts could bandage and "treat" their own stuffed animals, check for each other's resting and active heart rates at the Heart Rate and Pulse station, and explore anatomy models and x-ray images, getting a close-up experience of what goes on with the human body.

They wrapped up their memorable exploration by getting their very own White Coat photo, complete with stethoscopes, giving the scouts the chance to see themselves in a healthcare role and take home to share with family. PA Medicine students were thrilled to share and showcase their profession and passions with the next generation and share the wonders of hands-on medical care and the meaningful work of helping others.
